More about Alderholt Mill
The Mill is located on an island formed by the River Allen; a small tributary that joins the River Avon at the nearby town of Fordingbridge.
There is a large garden with lots of water features, a wildlife pond, bog garden and stream where wildlife abounds. Kingfishers and herons are frequent visitors.
There has been a mill on this site since the 14th Century, according to records. The mill machinery was worked commercially until 1947; it was then left to fall into disrepair. It was fully restored and successfully produced flour again in 1987.
We open the mill for cream teas, sale of bread, flour etc, at weekends during the summer season from 2pm-6pm. A speciality is to offer our guests bread made from our own freshly milled flour.
